1. Overview

RecTok is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the RecTok Telegram bot (@RecTok_Bot) or visit rectok.app, and how we use it.

2. Data We Collect

When you interact with the RecTok Telegram bot, we store the following information on our servers:

Telegram user ID — a numeric identifier assigned by Telegram, used to send you recordings and notifications
Telegram display name or username — used for internal administration only
Language preference — English or German, set by you
Video quality preference — HD or SD, set by you
Notify list — TikTok usernames you have subscribed to for live notifications
Watchlist — TikTok usernames you have added for automatic recording
Service milestones — first bot start, completed welcome, first recording, first tracked creator and Premium activation timestamps, used to understand where users need a clearer onboarding flow

The Telegram bot does not require your name, email address, phone number, or payment information.

If you submit a rights request through the website, we collect the contact information and request details you provide. Copyright notices also require a digital signature. These submissions are kept in a private review inbox, not the public library.

3. Public Recording Library

Every recording made through RecTok is saved to a public library at rectok.app/library. The following metadata is stored publicly:

TikTok username of the recorded creator
Recording date and time
Duration and file size
Thumbnail image and creator profile picture (fetched from TikTok)

The Telegram user ID of the person who requested a recording is not stored publicly or linked to the recording in the library.

4. How We Use Your Data

To deliver recordings and notifications to you via Telegram
To maintain your preferences (language, video quality) between sessions
To enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
To generate anonymous usage statistics (total users, total recordings)

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We use service providers only as needed to operate the service and protect its forms from abuse, as described below.

5. Data Retention

Your preferences and lists are retained for as long as you use the service. Recordings in the public library are retained indefinitely unless a removal request is submitted. Rights requests are retained for review, correspondence, and legal record-keeping. If you wish to have your data deleted, contact us; requests may be subject to legal retention obligations.

6. Third-Party Services

Telegram — messages and files are transmitted via the Telegram Bot API. Telegram's own Privacy Policy applies to that communication.
TikTok — RecTok connects to publicly available TikTok live streams. We access only public data (stream URLs, profile pictures). We are not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance.
Cloudflare Turnstile — the rights request form uses Turnstile to detect automated submissions. Cloudflare processes technical information needed to complete the verification under its own Privacy Policy.

7. Cookies & Anonymous Analytics

rectok.app uses browser storage to remember your dark/light mode preference and, for the current tab only, the anonymous traffic category and landing page that led to RecTok. We count anonymous page views and clicks that open the Telegram bot so we can understand which pages are useful. These aggregate events contain the page, button source, broad traffic category, event type and timestamp only. We do not store an IP address, advertising identifier or cross-site profile, and no third-party analytics or tracking pixels are used.

Request a copy of the data we hold about you
Request deletion of your data
Request removal of a specific recording from the public library
