1. Overview

RecTok is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the RecTok Telegram bot (@RecTok_Bot) or visit rectok.app, and how we use it.

2. Data We Collect

When you interact with the RecTok Telegram bot, we store the following information on our servers:

Telegram user ID — a numeric identifier assigned by Telegram, used to send you recordings and notifications
Telegram display name or username — used for internal administration only
Language preference — English or German, set by you
Video quality preference — HD or SD, set by you
Notify list — TikTok usernames you have subscribed to for live notifications
Watchlist — TikTok usernames you have added for automatic recording

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any payment information.

3. Public Recording Library

Every recording made through RecTok is saved to a public library at rectok.app/library. The following metadata is stored publicly:

TikTok username of the recorded creator
Recording date and time
Duration and file size
Thumbnail image and creator profile picture (fetched from TikTok)

The Telegram user ID of the person who requested a recording is not stored publicly or linked to the recording in the library.

4. How We Use Your Data

To deliver recordings and notifications to you via Telegram
To maintain your preferences (language, video quality) between sessions
To enforce rate limits and prevent abuse
To generate anonymous usage statistics (total users, total recordings)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties.

5. Data Retention

Your preferences and lists are retained for as long as you use the service. Recordings in the public library are retained indefinitely unless a removal request is submitted. If you wish to have your data deleted, contact us and we will remove it within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Third-Party Services

Telegram — messages and files are transmitted via the Telegram Bot API. Telegram's own Privacy Policy applies to that communication.
TikTok — RecTok connects to publicly available TikTok live streams. We access only public data (stream URLs, profile pictures). We are not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance.

7. Cookies & Tracking

rectok.app uses a single cookie-equivalent: a localStorage entry to remember your dark/light mode preference. No analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party cookies are used.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Request a copy of the data we hold about you
Request deletion of your data
Request removal of a specific recording from the public library
